Mobile operators and retailers in Kenya have revealed that demand for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s are more than what Apple is supplying to the country.

Capital FM reported that the appetite for iPhones in the East African country is growing at a much faster rate than the company can satisfy.

Citing figures released by mobile operators and resellers, it said although about 1000 units of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S were requested in October, Apple could only deliver 700 units.

Details also revealed that Safaricom got about 70 per cent of the orders while the remaining units were shared among other operators and resellers.

Michelle Abuya, Business Development Manager, Salute iWorld said: “Authorized Apple resellers only got 7 percent of what the country ordered.”

Confirming Apple’s inability to meet the demand for the latest iPhones, CEO of the company, Tim Cook said: “As of today and the end of the quarter, we’re not nearly fast enough in getting the iPhone 6 and larger iPhone 6 Plus into customers hands.”
