Okmalumkoolkat is banged up abroad

Okmalumkoolkat performs in Soweto (Clarissa Sosin, M&G)

South African musician, dancer and
all-round dapper guy Okmalumkoolkat will be spending the next three weeks in a
Tasmanian jail after being found guilty of sexual assault.

The artist, whose real name is Smiso Zwane, was sentenced to six months (five months suspended) for the act, about which he was reportedly “remorseful and embarrassed”.

The rapper, who was on the island to perform
at the Mofo festival, apparently entered the room of a fellow
musician in drunken stupor at about 5.30am and proceeded to neck and fondle her before she
awoke and led him out of her room. This scuppered the rest of Okmalumkoolkat’s Australian
tour and could slow down his international travelling.

On Thursday, the International Pantsula was
sentenced for a month, with time spent in custody being taken into account.

A storm brewed over the #FreeMalumkoolkat
hashtag started by overzealous fans:

A lot of tweeps were not feeling it though.

METRO FM suspends Pearl Thusi and Phat Joe

Pearl Thusi. (Gallo)

The animosity between TV and radio presenters Pearl Thusi and Bonang Matheba has escalated, costing Thusi her job on radio. Thusi who
co-hosts a weekend radio show on Metro FM with Phat Joe (Majota Kambule), was suspended from the SABC radio station on January
21 after listeners complained to the SABC about the constant “bashing”
of Matheba and rapper AKA by the pair, Sunday World reported. SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago was quoted by the paper,
saying there were issues that the SABC needed to resolve with Thusi and Phat
Joe.

Last week, Thusi and
Matheba (who also presents a show on Metro FM) fired shots at each other on social media. It all started when someone on twitter
asked Matheba why she doesn’t respond to Thusi’s snide comments.

Matheba’s
response: “Thats like an old pair of leather shoes that I don’t even
know when or where I bought. SOO tired. Time 4 new ones.”

Thusi hit back with a snappy wisecrack – posting photos of her
wearing leather boots while reading a book entitled
The Married Man’s Guide to Adultery
.

In 2015 AKA’s ex-girlfriend and mother of his daughter, Zinhle
Jiyane, accused him of cheating on her with Matheba, while she was still
pregnant with their daughter Kairo.
