African National Congress national executive committee (NEC) member Pule Mabe has been appointed as the party’s new spokesperson.

Mabe takes over from fellow NEC member, Zizi Kodwa, who has been the party’s spokesperson since 2014 and bowed out after the ANC 54th national elective conference.

Mabe was a member of Parliament for three years until he resigned in 2017 to pursue other interests.
He is also a former treasurer general of the ANC Youth League.

“The African National Congress wishes Comrade Mabe well in his new role and has full confidence in him to execute his new task at the helm of our communication machinery with distinction,” deputy secretary general Jessie Duarte said in a statement.
