Former ANC MP Vytjie Mentor has returned to social media, saying she can prove her claim that the Gupta family offered her a post in Cabinet.

On Monday, the family denied Mentor’s allegation that they offered her a position as the Minister of Public Enterprises at their home in Saxonwold.

“Facebook is not the appropriate forum to air such a complaint, and we can only assume it is an attempt to gain personal profile and media attention. We challenge Vytjie Mentor to file an affidavit,” said a family spokesperson in a statement.

But early Thursday morning, Mentor challenged the family to take legal action.

President Jacob Zuma has distanced himself from the comments. In two separate statements on Tuesday night, he denied knowing Mentor, and dismissed media reports that she accompanied him on a state visit to China in 2010.

“The President has no recollection of Ms Mentor and is not aware of the alleged incidents in her career that she has reportedly written about on social media,” the Presidency said.
