South Africa’s second operator MTN has reduced its MTN Pay Per Second price plan rate to ZAR0.79 from ZAR2 per megabyte, continuing the theme of price cuts across the country’s operators.

From June 1, Top Up customers on MTN AnyTime Top Up or MTN Off Peak Top Up have also seen a reduction to a standard 0.79 per MB for ad-hoc data usage, while the company has also introduced a promotional price plan – MTN 1c Per Second – for Prepaid and Top Up customers.

MTN recently launched a promotion for ZAR0.79 per minute calls, making it permanent two weeks later, while rivals Cell C and Vodacom have launched similar promotions.
