Reports on Saturday afternoon from eNCA say two people have died and several have been injured in a stampede at the Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
The injured were taken to hospital.
Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Public Safety, Councillor Michael Sun, confirmed the news on Twitter, saying all the gates were opened to ensure crowd control.

The match continued despite the fatalities.
Sun told News24 they were unsure about the cause of the stampede, but it is alleged that it involved the sale of fake tickets at the entry gates.
