Telecel and MultiChoice Zimbabwe have signed an agreement allowing DStv subscribers to use Telecash to pay for their subscriptions through their mobile phones.

Telecash – which launched in January – can be used by its subscribers to send money to any mobile phone user regardless of network and pay bills and for goods and services using their mobile phone.

“Paying DStv subscriptions has never been easier. Moreover, there is no need to have to memorise a biller code every month when you need to make a payment,” said Telecel Zimbabwe mobile financial services director Nkosinathi Ncube.

Subscribers using this service now have the option of adding DStv to their favourites to be bookmarked as a favourite on the simplified Telecash menu. The subscriber can simply select it from the list of favourites the next time they wants to pay for DStv.

To make a DStv payment, subscribers can dial *888# to access the Telecash menu, and choose the ‘pay bill’ option. They select DStv as the service provider they want to pay, then enter their account number, the amount they want to pay and then enter their personal identification number (PIN).

Payment is instant and occurs in real-time. Once payment has been made the subscriber receives a unique transaction ID that can be quoted, like a receipt number, in the event of any query.

Ncube also said Telecash is well integrated with DStv, guaranteeing the subscriber’s account will be instantly updated as once payment is made.
